Tinubu widens the gap

The APC Presidential candidate, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, continues to widen the gap between him and the other candidates in the 2023 presidential race as “the candidate to lose” the election.  Although not backed by any of the announced research results, there seems to be a general perception that Tinubu is the most likely candidate to win, despite his warts and all!

It is this leadership, despite the warts, that we are actually referring to by our headline above.  No candidate has made as much gaffe as Tinubu has since the opening of the campaign season.  Indeed, Tinubu is now known to make at least one major blunder per campaign stop.  Yesterday, in Lagos, it was “APC/V” in place of PVC.  The day before his love for agbado made him to include “roasted corn” as one of the major requirements in electrification!!!

The blunders are not limited directly to the candidate alone.  His entire team seems to have been infested with “blunder-virus”.  How can you use the photograph of such a popular figure as Donald Duke at 12 to represent Bola Tinubu at 12 in the documentary produced by the BAT team – Duke disclosed this himself at a forum with senior media executives!!!!

Excellence unites

Nothing provides common grounds like the celebration of excellence.  This fact was brought home in Awka last week as the Senate Committee on Science and Technology brought its national exhibition and workshop to Awka Anambra State.  Attendance cut across all the political divides.

Welcoming participants, Governor Chukwuma Soludo told the audience that Anambra is one of the safest States in Nigeria and home of STI.  He disclosed that "Anambra is the home to Nigeria's first Automotive Industrial Park that will be located at Akwaihedi, Nnobi and Uga.  We are now completing the first phase of the development. A bigger fundraising of over $250 Million will kick off the project".

Chairman of the Committee on Science and Technology, Senator Uche Ekwunife expressed optimism that the workshop will continue to grow because it would create synergy with the academia, industry and government.  She disclosed that STI should be seen as a critical sector and also a key driver that would lead Nigeria to the path of industrialization.  "The development of any country lies solely on STI…This workshop used to hold in Abuja but as Chairman of the Committee, I decided to bring it home.”
