Her $1.5m was locked up since 2017; for the love of Anambra…Soludo will pick you at the Airport!
Today, we bring you tidbits from the Anambra Investment Summit, the first and biggest such investment gathering East of the Niger since 1960.
Dr Mrs Cordelia Uddoh, an eye physician and surgeon, in active practice with offices in Pennsylvania, USA, had heeded the Akulueuno call in 2017. She brought in an initial investment of $1.5m. She is also a big philanthropist.
Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, told the audience during his welcome address at the Anambra Investment Summit, that with the changes he has made in investment attraction and the Ease of Doing Business in Anambra (Anambra State is today, number 1 in the South East, and number 7 pan Nigeria), the money has since been unlocked. Governor Soludo used that to challenge ndi Anambra in the Diaspora, urging them to come home and invest. He disclosed that he would physically come pick any potential investor up at the Airport.
Despite the absence of President Bola Tinubu and most of the Governors and top Nigerian businessmen in India, for the G-20 Summit, and the unpredicted socio-political challenges of this week, including the two-day labour strike and the PEPT judgment, the Summit was well attended. China was represented by its Ambassador to Nigeria. The UN Country Representative led the UN team which also included UNIDO. DFIs and other multi-lateral organisations, including, Afreximbank, were also well represented.
Humongous deals were closed with MOUs and other agreements signed. Dr Mrs Uddoh’s business got their MOU signed, among other local and international business concerns. “Did I hear Afreximbank and $500m”?
